Puppy was doing well on leash, now refuses to walk
After a week of constant running ahead and pulling on the leash, our 3 month old BC Mix was doing very well! I had been doing the "be a tree" method - whenever she pulled I froze. She would pull a bit, then sit down. I would give a treat, then we would be going. We were up to almost a 1/2 mile walk without pulling.
Today about a few steps into our walk, she ran in front of me, I tripped on the leash, and I stepped on her paw.
She's not limping, and doesn't flinch when I touch it, but now she refused to walk. I tried to go in another direction, to cross the street, to coax her with her favorite treat - she'll walk a few steps then stop dead in her tracks. I prefer the happy pulling!
Should I just wait a day and try again tomorrow?
Hoping I haven't made her hate walks!
