Playing peekaboo with my dog

Sometimes when my 5 yr old dog is on my bed, I will duck my head below the side of the bed and then pop out, making either a whine, bark or boo, and then quickly duck back under. Everytime I do this she whines (like “why are you doing this mommy”) and if I do it enough she’ll give out a bark (She rarely barks, usually only at me).

She does wag her tail slightly but I can never tell if she’s upset or playful.

FYI, she never plays with toys. I don’t know how to play with her besides this or when she’s excited that I wake up in the morning I play around with her hyperness.

Just wanted to know if my peekaboo is upsetting my usually calm dog? If I could send a vid here I would.

ha ha its not you it does it to some peoples posts when they use ' - not sure why. what do your dogs eyes say? can you read the expression in them? does she do a play bow? my dog bows & a fast wiggle of her tail is how she sais yes. If she hides or tries to get away then thats usually a sign of being scared.

Also barking can be initiating play & communicating with you to join in the game. Not sure about the whining without hearing it as to wether thats upset or vocalising as part of a game. My dog sings & the weirdest noises come out but she's not upset.
