One of our dogs won't let us play with the other dog? Weird quirk
Hey all, this isn't a super pressing question, just something I've been wondering about.
Our male 2 year old hound/lab mix won't let my human family members play with our other female 2.5 year old lab/pit mix. When we start rough-housing or playing tug with her, the male comes up and barks at us and butts in to play with her instead (distracts her and starts chasing/wrestling with her instead). It isn't aggressive at all, but it's sort of odd. I don't know if he gets nervous and is trying to diffuse perceived 'tension' between us and the female, or if he's jealous that she is playing with us instead of him?
But he doesn't like to rough-house or play tug at all with us, just a little fetch here and there. They LOVE to play with each other and are always running and wrestling.
I personally love wrestling and tug so I'd like to be able to play with the female more since she loves it too, but the male ... won't let us? I don't know if i'm even explaining it right but if anyone has seen this before I'd love to know your input!
