Lunging at cars

My14 month old pit/boxer mix was a rescue and we got him 4 months ago. He never lunged at cars before. Within the last few weeks he ferociously he pulls and lunges at passing cars. Today he was in a gully when the vehicle approached. I went down to tighten the leash and grab his harness and had to throw myself partially on him. He dragged me a bit on the stones leaving me scrapped pretty bad. He has never had a bad car incident since we got him . How can I get him out of this habit and quickly. Thanks

Teach him leave it and keep walking :-) I hope your okay that pulling sounded a little rough. Teaching leave it should work it takes some time. When he leaves it I would pet him and keep going and Everytime he does it give some positive reinforcement :-):-)
