Introducing a cat unfriendly dog to a cat

I have a year and a half old mutt I adopted. He’s the most loving people dog you’ve ever met however his prey instincts are off the charts. He gets along great with people and other dogs but any other animal that runs he chases and if he catches he will likely kill.

I did a DNA test and he’s mostly Australian cattle dog and staffordshire terrier with a few other breeds mixed in but mostly terrier. Every time I walk him he’s on the hunt. Tale wagging and having a great time. Every time we go for a walk he gets numerous mice and loves chasing rabbits and deer. Here’s my issue.

My family owns a cottage on a small island where I usually bring him a few times a week so he can run around and be himself and I don’t have to worry about cars. I just heard my uncle adopted a cat and he stays at the cottage for the summer. I’m assuming he will bring the cat. My dog has never met a cat before and I’m worried since my dog chases anything that runs (and kills whatever he catches), he will harm the cat.

He’s not an aggressive dog at all, he just treats animals that run like his chew toys. Is there any possible way I can introduce my dog and the cat so I can continue going to the cottage in the summer?

Side note, I know it’s not good my dog chases wild animals and I keep an eye on him while walking so he doesn’t get into anyone’s farm or harm another animal. I would appreciate if I didn’t get lectured how his habits arnt good. I’ve tried everything I can since he was a puppy to curb the habit but his prey instinct overcomes everything.
