Yeah Chloe is outside with our westie and lab during the day until my parents return from work. She has play mates but still loves to get into trouble. My mother always calls me before she goes home telling me how much she prays Chloe didnt chew anything in the yard. I am in my last year in college so i will be able to care for her more but she is almost 2yrs and should be past the chewing stage. We always make sure that we correct her is she misbehaves. I just am not sure what i should do to make her get it after she has been corrected so many times.

couple ways you can go here.

If she will chew them infront of you... you can ask for her attention and reward when she chooses you over the sprinkler. Unfortuanelty if shes been corrected alot she probably only does it when your not around.

The other option that comes to mind involves an E-collar and scaring the piss out of you dog when she chews them. Not the nice way to go.

third....can she be confined or crated while your not home? This is the most practical solution IMO.

does she have toys to chew on while your gone?

also what do you mean by correction? A touch? yelling? a yank? what happens when you correct her?

Those all sound like good options. When we correct her we either call her name very stern and tell her "no" makinging her look at what she has done. But when she licks or starts to chew on our clothes while we are walking around the house or outside we shut her snout and look at her in the face. We dont hurt her by any means when we shut her snout, we just want to show her that you dont do that.

stop doing this....If you tell her "no" (assuming she understands that no is a correction) after you yell her name You are correcting her for looking at you when you say her name.

Showing her what she did doesn't work either....dogs don't think that way.

The only way to correct her and have her understand would be to sneak up behind her and either startle her Or say the correction while shes doing it. They can't put whats happening now with what happened three seconds ago. So if you catch it after its happend (even a few seconds) its now too late to correct your dog.

Itstead of dwelling on what you DONT want her to do dwell on what you DO want her to do... call her name and hand her a toy...call her name and give her a treat. Giving her a toy wont reinforce sprinkler chewing....It will teach her that when she wants to chew on sprinklers and she gets a toy instead that she will be rewarded.

make sure you never eva eva use the dogs name associated with som'thing negative. Name=fun/happy/food whatever.... if name is used for corrections the dog will (god forbid) run away from you when you call say, if she gets loose....shes unsure if you calling her name is good or bad. Make sure her name always = good.

make sence?
