¿Have you already discarded a medical condition? My first thought would be a UTI. I would go check him with his vet, just to be sure.
¿Have there been changes in his environment lately? Stress and anxiety can also be the cause of this problem.
Of course, never punish him. ¿What does he usually do before marking? Often there will be sniffing involved and then movement of the body to get on target. Here's where you have to get involved to stop it. Get his attention by calling him to you, and then take him immediately outside. See if he will mark outside instead. If the dog is marking outside- reward that with a treat! We prefer him to mark outside instead of inside. Also, I don't know if he has specific places inside your house to mark. if so, try to restrict his access there.
I've never done this, but some people use 'belly bands', search for these in the Internet, maybe you'll prefer this method.
To end with, you probably know that the longer he has been doing this, the longer it may take to change.
Be patient! Let us know if it works.
