benzodiazepines are scary - EVEN when taken carefully per Rx.

HOME | WORLD BENZODIAZEPINE AWARENESS DAY | JULY 11

One of my recent job-interviews was with a woman suffering from benzo-withdrawal & after-effects SIX YEARS after she was off the med.
She suffers from devastating anxiety, brain-fog, has difficulty concentrating, joint pain & other physical symptoms - but her primary need is for a listening companion to tell her she's getting better.
The problem is that she's getting better excruciatingly slowly.

Her brain & CNS injury has cost her employment, her marriage, & full-time life with her sons - who are teenagers; they visit several times a week.
She is often unable to leave the house - frozen by panic attacks; yet this is measurably better than where she was a year ago.

Benzo after-FX can be long-term, even after short-term use. They're dangerous; I will never look at them the same way, again. Volatile, & unpredictable.

BZDS, PSYCH DRUGS AND PETS | WORLD BENZODIAZEPINE AWARENESS DAY | JULY 11

The Big-Pharm industry is aggressively promoting Benzos for use in pets. Please don't use them without asking about alternatives, tapering off, etc.
INTERDOSE withdrawal is especially crazy, when symptoms of withdrawal begin while U are on the Rx.

With thanks for the further replies. Clomicalm is xanax - it didn't have an effect for us. Will look at rescue remedy. We have upped his exercise - he's now on 1hr 15 mins walking per day, plus an uplift in toys and games around the house - I'm not convinced we're seeing a behavioural improvement but it won't do any harm. Lovely to read a Jack Russell success story here

The sertraline Zoloft isn't a benzodiazeoines, it's an antidepressant that's long acting that takes four to six weeks to get to a therapeutic level in the bloodstream. But it's helped a lot.

My dog's not a jack Russell he's a large mutt who's very anxious and wasn't raised or socialized well, I didn't get him til he was sixteen months old. But Zoloft did wonders along with the treats to socialize him to people.
