Our 11-month old French Bulldog pup, Earl, has been starting to show increasing behaviour issues. From a puppy he has hated the iron and ironing board. He barks wildly when he sees the ironing board, and tries to snap at the board (ripping the cover off) and the cord of the iron. This has now extended to:
- The hoover
- Any electrical cables (i.e. plugging / unplugging mobile phone charger)
- Emptying the bin
- Moving our baby nephew’s booster chair from the dining room table
Each of these “attacks” is very noisy, with lots of jumping and barking, but also feels quite fearful. We are unsure of whether he is afraid of the iron (and other household items) or whether he is trying to be protective.
My wife works from home, so he spends a nearly all day with her (following her around the house). He can get upset when she leaves the room. He’s an otherwise delightful pup, and ever so loving. He’s never once snapped at us or bit us (other than the usual puppy mouthing when he was little).
However, he’s getting big and strong now, so we would like to get this problem behaviour under control. Does anyone have any tips?!
It's worth noting that he has not been neutered.
