I'm a new dog owner. Waited 24 years to get my furbaby - his name is Latte. When we got him he was 8.5 weeks old....I've always known that dogs in general are social creatures and need a lot of stimulation and interaction. My Latte, a yellow lab is no different. What we've encountered though is that when we're home, he's a perfect little angel and shadows one of us and is perfectly content. The problem is when we're not home. Previously he was fine when we would leave him and my mother in law would visit him mid-day. There's never been an incessant barking when we leave and there still isn't. The problem that has slowly been getting worse though is that he now poops and pees and chews EVERYTHING up in his pen.
We have set him up with a play pen set up where he has room to lay and a corner specific to potty and toys galore and doggie bed even. But starting in November, shortly after Thanksgiving, he began urinating on his blanket. That happened a couple of times but then Christmas came and at least one of us would be home and no problems occurred...he would be left but now for shorter periods when we went shopping but not the long hours like when we would be at work.....so the shorter periods he was fine...he would nap and such and we would come back and all is fine. Now that the holidays are over and he has gotten so much bigger --- he'll be 6 months next week but he's already nearing 50 lbs and my mother in law can't visit as often because of health issues. Anyhow, now, that the holidays are over and he's left alone, what he's resolved to do is to not only urinate on his blankets but also poop all over the place and on his toys. He's chewed up his potty tray and even the potty fake grass.....again, he has toys galore and things to stimulate him to keep him from getting bored. When my mother in law has visited him, everything is still in order....so he seems to be fine for several hours....but he knows when my hubby gets home and so that's when all the mess is created like a few hours before hubby gets home.
I'm sure my pup can't be the only one going through something like this? It's almost as if he's angry at my hubby (hubby is the last one he sees in the morning and the first one he sees home) and is purposefully creating this mess just for him. By the time I get home, I get a well behaved puppy who seems like "who me?" when my husband tells me what he had to clean up....and yes, there are photos....
Any suggestions????
