First time EVER--Shy Gracie played with Puma pup!!!!!!!!!!

OMG...... Gracie played with Puma pup!!!!!!!!!!
I have to share this amazing breakthrough with my shy/ fearful/ cautious Gracie dog.

For all of you guys who have a cautious dog in their family, this one's for you

I work with my cautious fearful Gracie dog all the time to help her become braver and more confident. Then we recently added rescue dog Puma pup to the mix. Long story...had no intention of adopting another dog... we all know how that goes, right??? Didn't know how that would pan out since Gracie is so sensitive and guarded. And does not even like other dogs coming close to her.

Bouncy puppy added. Now 48 lbs of playful energetic confident puppy!! Yikes!! Lots of careful management, prevention, and tons of gentle humane FUN training for all three dogs in our house. And baby gates all over the house for separation when Gracie needs a break from crazy Puma puppyhood

Today---FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER our cautious Gracie played with our young Puma pup!!!
!
Ok for those of you who don't know my Gracie this is a BIG DEAL! Enormous deal!
Unheard of for her. Big trust. No, ginormous trust!!!

Gracie (for once) actually let her guard down and played with another dog. OMG.
Gracie, who was once one of the most reactive dogs I ever met. Gracie who HATES other dogs in her face or anywhere near her body. Previously super sensitive and very nervous around other dogs. (Ok, I admit, yes, I have been doing tons of counterconditioning on her dog/dog reactivity, so that has helped enormously as well.)

And the best part?? Gracie didn't freak herself out, or get overstimulated or overthreshold, or freak on Puma, or whatever you want to call it.

And she actually gently pawed Puma for more play when Puma took a rest break.
What??? Gracie asking to play?????? Miracle. And Gracie liked it. As did Puma. And they had several rounds of super healthy play. (I know because I have studied healthy dog play, since I previously knew zilch about this topic)

Puma has been "asking" Gracie to play for months now, and today it happened.

Life is good
