Aggressive behaviour

HELP! Hi everyone new here really need some advice, iv rescued a emaciated dog three days ago never seen one so bad in the flesh, she is starting to feel well and has a very high prey drive, cats chickens and cows send her crazy. She has twice now lunged at her crate aggressively towards my mum, we're at the point now where im the only one handling her shes becoming overly protective if i pay another dog attention. Shes also starting to get mouthy/nippy towards me on the lead. Iv spoken to my local vet and and having her euthanized is being discussed. Any advice would be appreciated, iv only been doing rescue for the last six months and have always had a good outcome. This ones just a bit disheartening. Thanks for your time

Can you identify whether she's a particular breed, or if she's a mix, whether there's a "majority" breed in her background? If so, is there a breed rescue group nearby that you can contact for help?

Where did you get her from?

Hi Emma, well done for rescuing this obviously needy dog. I've been doing rescue for years, and believe me you will never reach a point where you think you have done enough - there is always another out there.

I'm always the one who would 'Give the dog another chance' so in your situation I'd be thinking let's give her more time to settle in. If it doesn't work out, then hey, euthanasia may be the answer if you can't find another home for her, but don't go down that route too soon, you may find she will settle better than you think, given time.

Don't be disheartened - if it doesn't work out at least you tried.

And don't ever give up on the dog rescue, they need people like us
