I have a 93 lb, 6 mo old male Mastador puppy. He is an English Mastiff/Black Lab mix (dad/mom). We got him when he was 10 weeks old and have had no issues other than jumping and subordination peeing thus far. He's fully crate and potty trained and gets about an hour of retrieving or walking exercise daily.
Today he decided he was going to get his big boy voice and bark at the mail carrier and the family of four that walked by the yard. The mail carrier was a new woman and we both chalked it up to him being insecure. The family walks by the yard every night, the kids are always yelling.
He normally only barks when he wants to come back inside, and uses a squeakypuppy voice.
His bark today was the full, deep throated bark. No growling, no teeth baring, but the tail wasn't wagging and he was barking.
I guess I need to know why this happened, and how to make it stop.
Both times I brought him back in the house.
Every other house in our neighborhood has small dogs and they all bark at people/cars/the wind etc. Is he picking up bad habits?
