Will dewormer hurt a dog with no worms?

I have a 9 week old toy poodle, he has not been dewormed yet but he shows absolutely no signs of worms. No bloated stomach, and he has no diarrhea or anything noticeable in his poop, and I inspect everytime lol.
I want to be on the safe side, however will a dewormer hurt a puppy that does not have any worms?

I´ve also read that worms can delay a puppy´s growth, so I´m wondering if that´s why he is still so little?

You can give puppies wormer if they don't need it. Has the puppy ever had wormer?? I use Heart guard plus to prevent anything that could happen. It works on intestinal worms and heartworms it prevents both. They might get diarrhea for a day but no worries of worms. It's a monthly treatment. :-)

You should consult with your Vet. He or she can run tests to be sure your puppy does not have worms, or identify which if he does, and treat appropriately for them.

Arrow i'd make an appt...

seconding @Laco - Vet!
a fecal float or wet-slide under the 'scope would I-D which parasites, if any, so that the apropos Rx is used.
Just flinging any generic at it is poor practice, & can harden the target.

If you're concerned about worms, talk to your vet when you bring the puppy in for his next set of shots. He's about ready for his first DHPP inoculation. If he finds that your pup has any intestinal parasites, he can prescribe the proper medication, otherwise there's no need to treat for them.

If you are really concerned get a fecal done first. No need to deworm if their are no worms. That's pointless. It's just putting a needless chemical pesticide into your dogs body for no reason. Always get a fecal done first.
