Smile What percentage use heartworm

Friends,

For a school project, I am trying to determine the percentage of dog owners that use prescribed heartworm medication, the frequency of use, and where it is purchased from. If you could PLEASE assist me with the 1 minute survey ( I promise), I would be greatly appreciative!!!

Thank you in advance!

Did you know vets offices typically markup heartworm medication 100% to 160%
I do not believe that vet's mark-up heartworm medication 100 to 160%. Do you have any legitimate sources that verify that statement in the survey?

For instance I use Advantage Multi for heartworms and flea prevention. At my vet it cost me $96 for a 12 month supply since he had a sale on that if you bought 6 month you got 6 months free. For a 12 month supply at 1-800 pet meds it would cost me $157.48, and for a 6 month supply it's $83.69 and those prices are with a coupon. Even without the deal at my vets, 1-800 Pet Meds is not cheaper by 100 - 160%

Drs Foster and Smith are quite a bit cheaper at $75.99 for a 6 month supply, and they have a $15 off coupon the is available, but that's still not 100 - 160% more then my vet cost, and my vet is still cheaper if the buy 6 get 6 free deal is going on and it was still available last month.

I don't know if this is relevant to your study, but some people don't give a heartworm preventative because it's not needed where they live. My dog doesn't get it because there is no heartworm in Alaska. That's why I answered "no" to "do you give your dog a heartworm preventative?". Like I said, I don't know the specific goals of your study, but it might be appropriate to give people an option to clarify why they don't use a heartworm preventative if they answer "no" for that question.

I don't give a monthly heartworm preventative, but bi-annual shots (ProHeart). Since this drug is not available over the counter, this survey does not apply to these "user" either.

I didn't do the survey, I just don't trust these random people joining and only posting a survey then never posting. I don't give preventative, I do a yearly test. I just don't like giving my pets poisons every month. Plus it's not even needed half the year. And my vet agrees with this.
