Urgent bella chewed up a battery (cannot get to vet)

Bella just chewed into a battery, I saw her and the battery was chewed all the way through the end was just hanging on by one side. She didn't eat any of it and seems to be acting okay, I washed her mouth out and gave her milk. I don't know where she got it, I just finished cleaning my room and saw nothing/ I cant get her to the vet as the basic office visit charge is more then I have they charge 70$ just to show up not including anything else and I don't even have that. What can I do. Will she be okay

You may not know the real damage until up to 12 hours from now. You really need to get her to the vet.

Here's a vet's case study on a dog who chewed on a couple of batteries.
Toxicology case: AA toxicosis: Alkaline battery exposure in a dog

I can't get her to the vet, They won't see her unless I can pay 70$ up front and I don't have that, Her vet is closed on Fridays so that is not an option, The local rescue only see's patients on Wednesdays so I can't take her there either.

This is a vet worthy situation. No one here can answer your questions.

Honestly I am inclined to close this thread entirely, but for now will leave it open just so that you may provide an update.

If something happens to Bella because of the battery, it is on you. If a person is to get a pet, you HAVE to make sure you have at least enough money to take to a vet, This "I don't have money to do anything" is getting freaking old and now that Bella may have something going on because she ate a battery is my last straw. I suggest rehome her today and don't get another animal for a very long time. You obviously cannot provide basic care, so let someone that can provide basic care take over with Bella.

Hi BryansGirl,

Kmes is right that Bella needs to see a vet and that we're not in the position of suggesting remedies over the Internet. However, I would hope that you might come back with an update later today. I would like to know how Bella is doing.

When I got her I had the money to care for her. I had a-lot RECENTLY my teacher said I have to come up with 1000$ for college and everything I have has go to college or I will have to pay 15000$ back to the college. I am not rehoming her.. By the way it's a good thing I didn't take her to the vet she didn't even get into the dry cell of the battery just chewed the end off where no acid is at. She is fine. Even if I did take her to the vet they would have sent her home as I didn't have enough to cover the treatment. I had 100 in my bank account and its cost 70 just to show up. so They would have just sent her home without treatment anyway. I have been applying to many jobs but nothing yet. I quit applying because during this summer I have an internship and will have to quit the job in order to complete the internship. I will have a job after August of this year, I have to get my 2 year degree before they will hire me. and again SHE DID NOT EAT IT just chewed on the end. Everytime something happens its always rehome and I'm sick of it have you never heard of things coming up where you run out of money temporarily. I have the money for shots, basic care, and when she gets sick, Not everyone can have 800$ just laying around for emergency care ( which it would have cost). I can afford ALL basic vet care she may need just not emergency care and I wouldn't have had transportation anyway as the EC vet is almost 45 minutes away and I don't have a car or a license, and no cabs come out this far (where I live). When my last dog broke her stitches open ec vet charged 400$ just to stich it back up so I'm sorry for refusing to take her to the EC vet. If they charged 400$ just to stitch a dog back up I can imagine chewing on a battery. Most people can't afford that. I would have taken her in to a vet this morning if I had to but her vet is closed on Fridays and the other vet I go to when I cant afford vet care is only open on Wednesdays she has 2 different vets BOTH are closed on Fridays and I go there because the others are overpriced. as the 2 I go to doesn't charge an office visit compared to the others that charge 50$ just to show up so How was I supposed to get her to a vet anyway if they were closed.

Anyone who rehomes their dog because they are temporarily out of money for a short period of time is stupid.. **** HAPPENS other unexpected expenses come up that you can't help. Why would I rehome a dog everytime an unexpected expense comes up.. The amount the EC vet charges is overpriced and even if I had a job I couldn't afford it. It would have cost 800-1000 for treatment and unless you are rich you can't afford that and they would have just sent her home. If I knew they would have accepted payment plans I would have taken her. But they don't and if you can't pay the full amount you will be sent home without treatment.

TIMBER I CAN AFFORD BASIC CARE. Bella is up to date on shots, has been spayed and went to the vet when she got sick. Spending 1000$ at once is not basic care. That's an emergency situation that not everyone can afford. Would you be telling me to rehome her if I got to the vet they said well since you cant afford 1000$ go home we won't treat her. We have care credit, But spent it all trying to save my pit bull who had cancer It cost 800 on nothing but testing. and another 200 just to put her down (and I didn't even get to keep her body) which Is why I hate that vet.
