SWOLLEN NECK 1y/o Bernese PLEASE HELP!

My 1 y/o Bernese Mountain dog Jack’s neck is swelling and has been doubling in size every day for the past 3 days. It all started one day when we noticed him being lethargic with a fever and not eating. When we took him to the vet they gave antibiotics and hung fluids to knock down the fever. The fever has not been back since. The following day we started to notice the swelling. We have him hospitalized in the specialty vet and they have run just about every test on him and still have NO IDEA what is wrong!! The swelling is localized to only his neck. They have done a CT scan, Xrays, blood work, FNA on lymph nodes. No signs of cancer but still don’t know why there is swelling. The FNA results came back as hyperplasia. They have sent out blood culture to test for fungal infection. They have given him IV antibiotics and fluids the first two days and the swelling has just kept doubling in size. Today (third day) have given him steroids because the swelling has gotten so bad that he can barely breathe.. They have also started to treat for a possible tic born infection. My dog can barely breathe and I feel like we’re getting nowhere... PLEASE HELP!

Did they check at all for allergies? Poor baby. That sounds like a bad reaction to a bug bite or something.

I agree it sounds like some sort of allergic reaction to something, perhaps an insect or spider bite.

Any update? I would have thought it's the first thing a vet would have checked though.
