Spinal nerve injury to a dog. Your experience?

Yesterday my 8 yo female lab sustained a spinal injury chasing a ball. Vet xrayed & there’s no breaks but diagnosis is a spinal nerve injury affecting her hind leg. Absolutely no function of the hind leg. It just hangs limp. Apparently it may heal depending upon the severity & nature of the nerve injury. Has anyone had this happen to their dog? Mine hasn’t had a bowel movement or urinated since & she hadn’t learned to walk on 3 legs yet. I’d love to hear from anyone who had been through this.

It would be a good idea to get her to a neurologist, who will probably want to run an MRI to determine the extent of the damage, and to know if it might need surgery to heal. It sounds pretty serious from your description, but I would sure want a specialists opinion.
