Spay recovery concern/question

We just adopted a 2 year old female pointer/lab mix a few weeks ago. She was spayed Friday. They let us know that she was in heat during the surgery, so it had to be alittle more of an extensive surgery. She is acting fine, besides whining alot but I think that's just because she wants attention. Anyways, her incision looks great (I think) but she has a golf ball size "lump" on the right side & middle of the incision & if I barely touch it, she acts like it hurts or like it is very tender. Anyone know if this is normal or something I should be concerned about?

It's where it's healing. I would give it a few days then go to the very for pain meds or their suggestion. :-)

Arrow Not sure.

It's been 5 days - does the lump still hurt when touched?
Is she eating well, happy in herself?

In the upper photo, is the lump near / under the teat that appears swollen & has some pinkened skin around it?
In the upper photo, it's to the Rt of center, & above her midline. // The skin looks suspiciously pink, like inflammation - mastitis? A bruise that hasn't colored yet?

If she jumps around, HERNIAS can develop - the muscles of her abdomen have been cut thru, & only the stitches keep her guts in place till they heal, which takes a good 10-days. On-leash walks only, NO jumping whatever, not onto the sofa, not off the car seat to the ground, none, zero, zip, nada. / Help her up, keep her leashed, LIFT her down.
If U leave the house, crate her so she can't hop up, & have her wear a cone-collar so she doesn't mess with the incision.

If she won't relax in a cone-collar, use a padded cervical collar AND a snug-fitting T-shirt with long sleeves, secured at her waist with an Ace bandage that's overlapped & pinned thru the T-shirt fabric *and* the Ace-wrap with 3 or 4 large safety-pins, like diaper-pins, so she can't slide that pointy nose under the shirt to fiddle with the stitches or the wound.

Are her stitches out yet?

good luck, hope the lump has resolved already,
- terry
