Soresto collar opinion

Good-day I have have used Frontline plus for many years without any issues I live in the northeast and ticks are prevalent but not terrible like other parts of the country and I have never knock on wood have issues with Fleas. Generally tick season is I would guess about about 6 months or so ranging from april through October. My GSD Rocco rarely leaves the yard which is pretty clear of any bushes or shrubs but I still like to put a flea & tick preventative on him I have heard however that frontline plus is not effective as it once was and I often forget to put that monthly dose on him and only remember to put it on a couple of days later thus leaving him unprotected again ticks & fleas are not a huge problem in my area but I still like to have something on him.

this brings me to the question about the sorresto collar I am hearing mixed opinions about it mostly good though my groomer says no way don't use it its not any good yet my vet and two co-workers who use it swear by it.one of my co-workers dogs wound up getting fleas using the frontline plus and since using the sorresto collar he swears by it.I like the fact that you can get 8 months use out of it and not having to worry about a monthly application some say its closer to 5/6 months but thats fine as even if I wanted to do two collars a year vs two 6 packs of Frontline plus it almost breaks even.and also like the fact that it repels ticks as well rather than having a tick bite your dog before it takes effect.

I was just looking for some thoughts and opinions on the collar from those of you who may have used it or still do as I used the last vial of Frontline plus and I am due for a fresh treatment in a couple of days and was thinking of going the sorresto route

thank-you

Just an update I decided to go a more natural route with my Dog I am crossing my fingers it works as I don't want to have a flea problem if I notice a couple of ticks on my dog I know its not working and i will go another route fleas are another challenge as once they are there its hard to eradicate them so fingers crossed this works my dog never leaves the back yard and I have minimal bushes/trees shrubs so I hope this works I am using this collar which I just ordered coupled with a product called flea away that a friend of mine uses and she says it works great on her two dogs it takes about a month for it to build up in your pooch's system and start working so in the meantime I ordreed this collar and should have it tomorrow fingers crossed the natural route works Im a bit nervous as I've always used Frontline plus but with my daughter constantly hugging and playing with my dog a natural preventitive is the safest way for the health of my dog and daughter

I am not a big fan of flea collars, had one destroy the kidneys in a cat we had many years ago. I know the new ones are likely safer than they were years ago, but??? I use Frontline + on our dog, and my experience has been pretty good using it. I have found that its effectiveness is variable, depending on how you apply it. I am careful to apply it, so most all of it is absorbed by her, rather than being soaked up by her hair. With a fluffy dog, there are some application tricks involved.

I used the Seresto collar last year because it came with my dog when I adopted him. It worked very well for us but I didn't care for the extra stuff around his short little neck so this year we went with the Bravecto chewable. So far I am happy with it although I wish it was a little less spendy.
