Skin lesions/infection any ideas?

Hi all,

So my staffy has been pretty sick (but still very happy) the last 18 minths with a sickness akin to lung cancer. The vets arent sure but mostly say its not cancer because he should have only survived two weeks to two months.

But now, his back has started developing skin lesions, as you can see in the photo. sometimes theyre quite dry and cracked and will bleed, and alot of his hair malts off. the area has been spreading lately to some patchs further down his back and doesnt seem to be that painful or itchy but hes a staffy so you know he might just not be showing it.

Just wanted to know if anyone had seen anything like this that i could suggest to my vet. Theyve tried swutching his daily pills around and even tried cream but nothing works.

This is a bit of a guess but have the vets checked out a systemic type psoriasis or other auto immune disease?

The vets havent said anything about that but i can ask.
Theyve said it could be a form of paraneoplastic syndrome but nothing online looks the same as what my dog has.

Hes getting close to the time where we need to put him down, especially if this keeps spreading. So this is more for curiosity really.

The vets said that if we really want to know we can put him under anaesthetic but due to his condition they dont advise it.
