Skin Infection? Image attached.

Hi, my dog is having a problem with her skin. She is an 11 year old pure white german shepherd. She is completely healthy besides this problem with her skin and no one can figure out what this is. She has this "lump" which is very swollen. She had one removed about 2 months ago but it was not nearly as bad as this one. The lump she had last time was 1 lump which she would bite at, scratch and lick non-stop. It got to the point where she bit through it and had made a hole in the "lump". It was not filled with pus or blood. The "lump she has now was tested by a vet and the vet said it was filled with only red blood cells and that it is NOT cancerous. It's not filled with pus, just blood She will not let me touch it so I am assuming it's sore to the touch. She is constantly scratching at it and licking it. We just got her hair cut but before that she lost hair around the lump (not all of the hair, just enough that you could tell she was losing some hair). Please if you have any idea what this could be, I'll take anything. I just can't afford to keep taking her to different vets.

So the vet drained the lump and that was it? Did not offer anything else? I have no advice, this looks like it needs treatment asap and is beyond uncomfy for her.

No, the first lump she had was removed about 2 months ago. These lumps just grew about 3 weeks ago. The vet put her on antibiotics and anti inflammatory both of which she finished 2 weeks ago with no improvement. We are going to get a second opinion from a second vet. We are trying to avoid surgery because it would require them to remove half of her side. No vet is able to tell me what exactly this is. She is going to the second vet Wednesday and I will give updates.

You should look into a dermatologist specialist.

Was the lump removed NOT sent in for pathology?? To an actual pathologist, not just the regular vet looked at it.

She needs it biopsied, in my opinion. And the sample needs to be sent to a veterinary pathologist.

Does she spend a lot of time outside in the sun?

Ditto pawz- seek a vet dermatologist. https://www.acvd.org/locator/locator.asp
