Skin concerns

My 3 yr old chihuahua has recently developed a 50 cent piece size spot on her rear leg that feels like a scab. She isnít itching and doesnít appear to be in any pain. The hair in the area is falling out does anyone have any idea as to what this could be?

It could be any number of things from something simple to something more serious. Better to get it checked out by your vet now than risk it becoming bigger, especially in a small dog, so that if anything needs to be done it will be easier.

A round, hairless spot with no itching or pain sounds a whole lot like ringworm to me- which is highly contagious and transmissible to humans...
