"Rash" on dog's inner thigh/groin area

I noticed this today. i think i saw something a few days ago, but didn't get a good look. He has a patch on his inner groin where the hair has fallen out, it's reddish, and it looks like there's what appears to be blackheads under the skin as well as dirt. He has been licking that spot for at least a few days too.

What do you think this is?

Hot spots maybe? Good idea to head to the vet for an accurate diagnosis.

I second heading to the vet... while we can make a guess on here, it's hard to diagnose something over the internet. It could be a variety of things but it's likely uncomfortable and possibly painful for your pup Hope he heals up soon!

Even if it's just a hot spot the vet can prescribe a topical medication to help.

Hot spots can also get worse if not treated. My family's lab mix lost a patch of fur in a single day, probably over 30% of his tail and it was angry red and swollen. We took him to the vet within an hour because we thought he got bit by a snake. With topical treatment and antibiotics it healed well!
