My Amstaff mix Bri broke a claw last Saturday. Luckily it happened right at the vet where we were meeting for a training session in the waiting room (how ironic, I know). She got sedated, the claw cut, a bandage bootie, pain meds and antibiotics.
Saturday night, the boot was slipped so far down, that we werenít able to pull it back up, so I called the vet first thing on Sunday (also lucky, my vet is open 7 days a week) and asked what weíre supposed to do, come in, or leave it off.
My vet told me to come in, so she can look at it and determine if another bandage would be better, depending on the healing status. She put another bandage on it and told me to come in on Wednesday to recheck.
I just checked in on her through our camera and witnessed the glorious moment of my puppy shredding the bandage to pieces
(surprisingly, she didnít touch it since she got the new one on yesterday, but probably just got bored)
Her paw doesnít seem to bother her at all, at least by the looks of it. My question is, if itís not bleeding, should I just keep it like this for now or go to the vet again (since Iím sure that theyíll tell me to get a new bandage, another $33)?
Obviously I would cover the paw when going outside, but inside the house Iíd leave it like this.
What do you think?
