I guess almost every dog owner is concerned about their dogs poop at one stage in their lives (?)
We have a 5 month old Labrador mix named Nova. When we first got her at 10.5 weeks she pooped about 4x a day first thing in the morning, lunch time, afternoon and evening. This has changed to mostly 3x a day now (skipping the lunch time poop
We have never changed her feeding times - she gets fed 3x a day still, around 7:00am - 12:00pm - 5:00pm. After 5pm she only gets 2-3 small treats. I'm looking to change down to 2x day in about a month.
I've noticed over the last 2 weeks that some times she doesn't do her last poop of the day until 10pm and once or twice a week she doesn't poop after dinner until 3am or 4am. So she leaves about 8-9 hours between it sometimes.
She gets plenty of exercise, play time and walking during the day. I try and fit in active play time before she settles down for the night to move things along.
Nova is otherwise healthy, her poop is mostly normal in consistency and colour and she is not crouching or in pain when she goes.
Of course I will take her out if she needs to go in the middle of the night, but I'd prefer sleeping through now that she can hold her bladder through the night
Should I try and feed her earlier, maybe at 4:30 pm and a smaller amount for dinner and give her bigger portions for breakfast and lunch to see if that helps?
Looking for some advice
