Post spay bulge near incision

Java was spayed on 3/23 and she has had this bulge since the 24th we took her back to the shelter where she was spayed prior to adoption and they said it was normal and would go away on its own. I've never seen anything like this. Does this look normal? Thanks for any help and advice

Looks like the build up of fluid Echo had but only a vet could tell you what it is.

What are her activity levels like? Ours was moving too much so we had an extra week of low activity to let the wound heal.

possibly a suture reaction, but pretty large swelling... definitely have your vet check it out for seroma, infection or even possible dehiscence of internal incision.

She is 8 weeks old so very active. In taking her to regular vet today. The shelter i got her from did a poor job stitching her up. We have kept her refined to her kennel other than 15-20 mins about 3 times a day.

Obviously it's too late now, but I would highly advise not spaying or neutering before 1 year old. TBH I wouldn't spay or neuter at all, assuming there's pre existing health issues that require a spay or neuter and you have a properly fenced yard to keep accidental breeding from happening.

I'm not seeing anything unusual from the picture, just keep her from jumping or running around too much. No rough play for a few days.

I agree I would normally wait to spay but we adopted her from the shelter and they did it prior to adoption we had no choice in the matter. She is doing good now though. Vet called me earlier she did in fact have a hernia. We will toy to keep her more calm but again she is only 8 weeks old
