My puppy goes to daycare with many other dogs, and I was made aware of "puppy warts" during his registration process. It it my understanding that the virus transfers, but depending on the immune system of the dog, warts may or may not show up.

I'm sure you've seen this while doing your own research, but wanted to post it anyway.

If the wart(s) starts to look especially nasty, I would call the vet to make sure it isn't anything more serious.

If it is truly a wart, it will almost always spontaneously vanish (though when exactly is random). Lots of different opinions about how contagious these are- never once seen a dog with oral warts spread them to other dogs in the same family... but they are viral so boarding facilities freak out about them. Some dogs develop hundreds of warts, and some can be huge. But still, all the warts I have seen over the years literally disappeared overnight. Best, as suggested, have your vet check it out though and make sure that is what it is... oral tumors can be very serious.

Hi thank you. she only had that one and now the cauliflower white/grayish thing fell off and only that little red stump. im thinking it is the root to the wart..i have taken her to the vet and he crushed it and maybe that helped it along. i just want the red thing to go away too. i know patience but she is missing out on playing with her friends at Camp.
