Normal behavior?

My beagle, Brody, is very playful and loves long walks and hikes - we do this with him regularly. He gets plenty of exercise. But it seems like, especially after a long walk, or any time he gets to do something fun - he proceeds to mope around the house when it's over and look like the saddest dog on the planet. Sometimes he will even whine.

Is this normal behavior or do I have a weirdo dog that's just demanding more stimulation?

Hopefully I'm describing this behavior correctly.

Aw poor guy.
Maybe keep a bin of special toys in the closet that only come out when you are post-walk to cheer him up
Rain and McCourt like this.
