My dog is sick please help!!

Hi I've had my dog to 2 vets and the results were strange. Tuesday's afternoon my dog ran away and got into something toxic anyways he's was acting drunk and paralysis is the hind end ect.. The blood tests seemed as if he was having liver failure and issues with his heart and gall bladder. He still wasn't right today so I took him to another vet and did more tests/fluid and the tests came back ok but the kidneys looked off. She sent them off for more tests but he still isn't well. His urine is dark yellow/ orange, he's still lathargic and his heart rate is hardly at 40

What are the vets doing / suggesting to treat him? If all these things are wrong I would hope they are giving you something for poisoning !

I agree with Cos, have they done any treatment for the dog? Like fluids or anything to assist the organs as they try to process the poison? I can't imagine a vet sending the dog home with me after it was acting like that and the test results weren't good.

Hi. It does sound like a toxic exposure. As a vet, most protocols with toxicity will focus on identifying the toxin and supporting the patient. Many times the toxin is never identified. The pet needs to be on IV fluid support and symptoms support in an attempt to help the pet while it eliminates the toxin. Most toxins that are ingested are metabolized by the liver and excreted by the kidneys. This is why the blood work indicated that both organs were involved. This time of the year we see lots of poisonings associated with pesticides and herbicides and most of these are organophosphates or similar. This would also explain the drunk appearance. To send a poisoned pet home without support is pretty strange in my book. Sounds like your pet still needs some support. Good luck.
