My Dog Leaves Skid Marks Everywhere

Please help. He cannot lay down without leaving a mark behind. He's not scooting or dragging his bottom around but he just lays down and when he gets up there is a skid mark with a very pungent smell left behind. It's killing our laundry bill.

Sounds like he must have soft stool that's leaving behind a mess. Maybe evaluate his diet?
