My coonhound is gasping

Rang the doorbell to the house when my coonhound was asleep, then he went into an intense gasping fit for about 20 seconds, then it subsided but it has been about 30 minutes since then and he still is gasping, though it is on and off, and when he isnt gasping hes breathing fine. I saw videos on reverse sneezing, thats not it, its a gasp through the nostrils. Anyone know what it is?

Thanks
Nick

If your dog is gasping for air and having difficulty breathing you need to get off the internet and get him to the vet now!

Is he gasping or snorting? Gasping is more serious then snorting but in either case, considering the duration you should get him to the vet, or at the very least give the vet a call and see if they think you should bring him in.
