Best to go to the vet for a diagnosis or at least talk to your vet's office about this. You can take your dog in and not be roped into a huge bill just by discussing testing/treatment and pricing before hand. Really vets can't/shouldn't be doing anything without client approval.
If it does end up being serious you do have options such as care credit, personal loans, fundraisers, etc. to help with expenses.
Best of luck! Please let us know what you find out!
