Question Liver Shunt

Hello, My ****zu/laso apso mix is 1.5 years old. We were quoted today for a surgery she needs to fix a liver shunt. The surgery is going to cost us 6000.00 to 8000.00 dollars. Unfortunately, I do not have pet insurance. I am willing to do what it takes to fix my baby but I am wondering if there are any other pet hospitals that can do the operation for a cheaper price. They are asking for a whole lot of money that I don't have, but will somehow come up with it if I have to. I just don't want to miss out on an option to have the surgery done somewhere else by a vet just a qualified who won't charge so much for the procedure. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.......

Don't know where you are, but you might look for a university with a veterinary program, IE: University of California, Davis California, or someplace near you. They may be able to help, at least worth looking into.
