Kennel Cough??

So I work at an animal hospital and I know what kennel cough is and the symptoms, however my little puppy is making me second guess myself. He is 5 months old and he is fully vaccinated since he was 4 months, he goes to work with me everyday.

So not lastnight but the night before, around midnight he woke up and it sound like he was reverse sneezing, this ended up lasting all night and was very frequent. I was thinking he may have gotten kennel cough. Well it had stopped that morning and he was fine all day, running around playing and not another episode. So lastnight we go to bed and around midnight he wakes up and does it again, only this time it’s way way less, he woke up maybe just twice with a short episode each time. Woke up this morning and nothing, he’s playing like a maniac.

So I’m wondering if maybe this is something else? Obviously I’ll will call Work later when they open but just curious what you guys think. I wonder if he is fine and this is just something else or a fluke? He has started sleeping under my bed lately, so maybe something under there is irritating him?

Kennel cough and reverse sneezes are very different. Ours had kennel cough when we first adopted her, she was miserable, and so were we. She was up all night coughing, for about a week or more, and of course so were we. She does occasionally reverse sneeze, sometimes repetitively for a short period of time, its very very different than the kennel cough, cough.

The reverse sneeze is a scary noise when you first hear it. I thought George was choking.

Its disconcerting when it first happens, but apparently harmless.

It’s kennel cough!! We thought allergies at first since he started sleeping under my bed at night and his episodes only happened at night, but I was able to get a video of it and showed it to the doctor. We started his antibiotics yesterday and he slept threw the night without coughing! Luckily I caught it in time so he should get better quickly. Have to take him to work today and keep him in ISO but I’m so happy he already seems better!
