To me the risks of over vaccination are negligible in comparison to the risks of not vaccinating. Lethargy, gastro-intestinal upsets, and swollen injection sites are all things that I would not even take my dog to the vet for, unless it lasted for a significant period of time. I am interested in more information about the lymph node disorders mentioned, whether it was serious ongoing disorders, or something simple like temporarily swollen lymph nodes. I tried looking up the article, but could only get the abstract without paying....
Personally I have never had a dog have a serious reaction to vaccines, so I dont see any downsides to just getting the extra vaccine. And I have a rottie (they are particularly susceptible to parvo), and live in an area where parvo is relatively common, so I would feel ridiculously guilty if she ever caught it, when it is so easily prevented. Of couse there are dogs that will not be immune, but I would like to know that I did everything in my power to stop her catching potentially deadly diseases.
