How do I care for my dog's dog bite pre-vet appointment

My dog got bit by another dog and I am not sure what to do until the vet appointment tomorrow.

The bite is on the face. It happened about a week ago, but just got worse yesterday. It looks like one deeper bite and a few smaller ones on the left of it. The swelling started yesterday so she must have scratched at it and opened it, making it worse. We are concerned that the swelling is reaching her eyes and might be infected.

We have a vet appointment tomorrow, but what can I do in the meantime to make sure it doesn't get worse? We have two types of cones for her, but she always gets out of them. Bf suggested securing a sock onto her back right foot, so if we can't stop her from scratching in time, the damage will be minimized.

I thought to use benedryl for the swelling, and clean it with antiseptic, though the internet is pretty divided on what you can and can't use on your dog.

my cat used to get his cone off- by lying on his back & using both back feet!!! it looked so funny! so I got a spare shoelace & wound it around the cone (thru the loops) & looped round the collar- all the way around & tied it. Couldnt get it off! If it doesnt have the loops- you can punch little holes in round the top. You can clean with saline solution.

A very good safe product to use on dogs - lucas papaw ointment. 99% papaya can use on cuts, cracked skin, open wounds, insect bites, burns, chafing, boils, gravel rash & Ive found its releiving my dogs itchy ear (she's had a recent flare up of allergies as its spring/summer weather here now) she's hardly scratching after I used some apple cider vinegar & then papaw for 3 days- for people who have dogs with itchy bits. (I woudnt use apple cider vinegar on wounds as of above just to clarify) also my dog loves the tastes of it & is sticking her feet in her ears & turning her feet into lollipops! ha ha mm lick lick yummy! Papaya is safe for dogs to eat.

Sounds perhaps that an abcess formed. Not unusual with bites, particularly punctures. If that is the case your vet is likely to drain the abcess and prescribe antibiotics. The vet may also direct you to warm compress the wound daily to help it continue to drain as it heals from the inside out.

In your shoes, I would just take shifts tonight so someone is able to watch and prevent any sctatching at the wound. Then to the vet as soon as they will see you in the am.
