Hives appearing constantly

Hello,

We live in southern California and my six year old Doberman mix recently started breaking out in hives all over her body. This is completely new and as far as we can tell nothing in her environment has changed. We suspected a star wars Wampa Rug she sleeps on that got bleached recently so we washed it and sent her to my parents to play since she was only breaking out at our home but when she came back she had the hives again. Has anyone else experienced a similar random onset of allergies and have any ideas? So far the vet isn't too concerned because the hives have not been bad. She's been on a round of steroids and benadryl as needed.
