We have had to shave all our dogs this spring because they over-heat and because the wet grass will mat their fur badly. When it is chilly they enjoy snuggling on a couch (if you let that, it can make your couch pretty dirty) and on blankets. We also have used coats for our dogs (mainly the little ones but we have used them on larger dogs as well when needed). Dogs are good at keeping warm, even with short coats, so just watch for signs of curling up in a tight ball and shivering.

I hope this helps. : )
