Flea and Tick Toxicity Possibly

So I have a 15lb ChiPin mix and I used K9 Advantix II on Monday and I noticed yesterday that all day his right ear flitches almost non stop, no other symptoms that I could tell. Notified that vet but really can't afford the bill right this moment, I get paid on Tuesday. I washed him this morning in Dawn dish soap and his ear is still flitches. Inside looks clean and no smell that I can detect. I have used that flea and tick befor, it is the correct dose. I don't believe there is any mites/fleas inside. So is there any suggestions on what to do ? Any suggestions on what flea and tick I should use next time as I am in Minnesota and it is tick country. Thanks You

I don't use any chemical flea products because of all the possible side effects, both externally and internal, but that's one Ive never heard of happening. Doesn't mean its not possible. Did the ear twitching start after the Advantix was applied? You did the right thing by bathing, but it doesn't sound it fixed anything. I would think if it had washed off, that may have stopped. As soon as you can get to the vet go, and they can look down deeper in the ear for any potential irritations that you can't see with your naked eye.

My Kaila just did that today, took me about 10 minutes to figure out why she had an ear problem all of a sudden. One peroxide flush, one warm olive oil ear swabbing and, one ant later, all is well. She had an ant in her ear from playing outside. It's very possible there is something in you dog's ear but, if a simple peroxide followed by olive oil to keep the ear from drying out won't fix it, then a trip to the vet is in order.

That's not a flea preventive side effect I have ever read about, though anything is possible. I think, however, its more likely something is in her ear as suggested by halo. If you are not able to resolve it, a trip to the Vet will be unavoidable. BTW our dog is super sensitive to any medication and does just fine with Frontline +.

He's ear twitching has subsided though it still happens intermittently. I have also now cleaned both ears and nothing has came out. He is a pretty clean dog, goes to the groomers once a month. I have also included a website to flea preventive toxicity. Thank you for the replies.
