Fish oil for skin itch

My adult Aussie Terrier had severe skin itch, for which our vet prescribed Apoquil. However, after using it and seeing what it costs, I decided to try fish oil (omega-3 fatty acid) two weeks ago.

That has made a big difference and has reduced his scratching quite a bit. His hair feels softer and looks shinier as well.

I just make a small cut in the fish oil capsule and drizzle the oil over his kibble. It seems not to have any taste of its own and Billy doesn't mind it a bit. Dosage info is available online. I recommend you give it a try with your vet's concurrence.

Sardines once or twice a week seems to work also. But I don't feed sardines and fish oil on the same day.
