First nail injury

Hey @Chas!

I remember you posted a while back about Echo's nail that got caught and the vet ended up removing the entire nail.

Mia injured her nail the other day, hopefully it won't have to come to a full nail removal but we'll see what the vet says tmw.

It doesn't hurt to walk on hard surfaces, but on my bed she walks funny because I guess the soft blankets snag/push onto the sensitive part of the broken nail.

I know that I'll get a full set of instructions tmw after her procedure but to put my mind at ease (somewhat) for now, what kinds of things did you do to help make the healing process better/easier? How long did it take before it was healed (I realized all dogs heal at different rates)? Did Echo has problems walking/running?

Anyone else experience something like this with their dog's nails?

This was the best picture I could get. She wouldn't let me go near it, even with the camera.

Thanks!

Ouch!

Sorry, I was away for a week with no internet.

@Chas thats okay! Turns out the damage wasn't that bad. Vet just cut off that hanging part and gave me some pink solution stuff that I need to dilute and soak her foot in 2-3 times a day for about 5 days. It's been healing really well, I've been really diligent on cleaning it. Mia let me touch the nail the other day so looks like things are okay now!
