Fireworks

Fireworks are illegal here in Iowa, but they go off all the time anyway. Then there are the city displays. Our little dog is so scared, and there are no meds that help. We have a lot of rural area surrounding us, but haven’t found a place far enough away. Has anyone heard of a fireworks-free zone?

Ask your Vet for tranquilizers to help her get through it. Some dogs are just naturally terrorized by fireworks, others, like ours could care less. For the really loud ones she might open one eye, but that's about it. She doesn't care about electrical storms, or earthquakes either. A strong tranquilizer may not completely solve the problem, but should at least help.

No I never heard of a fireworks free zone, it would probably be inconvenient to get to anyway :/ Idk what kind of meds you tried but one thing that helps for us is dog cookies with cannabis oil, calms the dog down fairly well but it takes up to an hour to work. But once it does it keeps him (relatively) calm for a few hours. You can search for it on amazon.
