ear infection

help! i have a friend whom i recently witnessed treating his dog's ear infection by squirting warm water into her infected ear and suctioning it out with a bulb syringe. this seems counter intuitive to me. have any of you ever used this method of treatment? what is the best way to treat her ear infection at home?

The best way to treat it at home, would be after a Vets exam, using the medication he or she prescribed. Ear infections can be caused by at least several, probably more, different organisms or fungal. Different types of ear infections require different types of medication.

Blub flushing out debris from and infected ear can be a correct treatment, but that's only after your vet has verified that the tempanic membrane is intact and you've been properly trained on how to do an ear flush.
