Dogs Pregnancy

Hello Everyone

Im new to this forum. I own a normal Indian dog. I have a question about my dogs pregnancy. Her due date was 1st of may and since she showed no signs of delivering the babies we took her to the vet.And the vet said that my dog is having some complications in pregnancy and gave her some injection to speedup the process. Its been a day now and i've been checking my dogs temperature from the morning. Its pending between 37.7 C and 37.8 C. This is my dogs second pregnancy and she has three very healthy babies from her first time. Though I notice a difference in her body temperature I dont see her vulva swelling. Can someone please educate me if vulva swelling is a must when ready to deliver the babies.

Thank you so much

@LoveMyFosters has seen her fair share of dog pregnancies. I'm sure she can answer questions.

Personally, I would bring her back to the vet (or to a different vet) but I have never bred a dog so I'm not a reliable resource.
@LoveMyFosters is amazing and may have some insight

@Pooh Jennie: Hi there! First off, are you absolutely sure your dog is pregnant and that your due date is right? It isn't uncommon for dogs to go a few days over their due date, but over a week isn't common. Does your dog have any discharge and has she been showing any signs of labor? A description of her current behavior will help me a lot.

If it's been over 24 hours since the vet induced labor and there's no puppies then it's time to get back to the vet! As LoveMyFosters said it's not uncommon for dogs to miss their due date, because most people don't know how to calculate it correctly. Did your vet X-ray your girl to determine the number and positioning of the pups before they gave the injection?

Ditto to above suggestions... very rare for dogs to delay partruition more than 24 hours beyond 'due date'... but how are you calculating this date? Have you done a progesterone test (best way to tell when your dog is 'due')?... But by this point seems MUCH more likely your pet is not pregnant at all (10 days beyond due date is basically unheard of). And if her vulva looks normal, even false pregnancy seems unlikely. Definitely recommend a radiograph to be sure actually pregnant (should have been done weeks ago anyway).

No idea what a 'normal Indian dog' is by they way.
