Dog peeing in sleep?

Unsure this is a health thing, since we've brought him to the vet and nothing seems wrong with him, but!

Our pit mix will occasionally pee his bed in his sleep. Not always, but a couple times a week. Whether or not we put him outside frequently has no effect on it. We can put him out and an hour later he pees in his sleep. He ONLY does this in his sleep... and only in his bed. If he's sleeping somewhere else it doesn't happen, and he never pees in the house otherwise.

What on earth is going on, and is there something we can do to stop it? Stuffing his bed in the washing machine is difficult!

How old is he? My dog had weird incontinence issues when he was younger (less than a year old). He would leak pee when he was relaxed. Not a huge amount, but enough to make his fur noticeably wet and to leave a small puddle on the floor.

That is strange that it only happens in his bed. I wonder if replacing the bed would have any effect. With my dog, it could happen anywhere. He doesn't do it anymore; I guess he developed better bladder control and outgrew it. If your dog is young, maybe he'll outgrow it as well.

He's going to be two I think in the spring. I /think/; we're fuzzy on adoption ages. It's only on his bed. We've felt and smelled around where he sleeps on other places and there's no traces of pee.

Is this a recent issue or has he always done it? It's similar to what my dog did, but I don't know what to make of the fact that it only happens in his bed.

He is not on medication and we only noticed it a couple months ago, which began various vet visits and tests, but nothing's ever come up.

I'm sorry I don't have better advice. I know how frustrating it is! The fact that it only happens in his bed must be significant. Changing his bed might be worth a try, although it does sound a bit far-fetched.

I'll see about picking up a different bed and see if he piddles on that one too. I can't even begin to imagine what's going on!

Halle is 10-y/o and it happens to her. She sleeps with me on the bed. I cover my bed with a piece of plastic. When there's pee on it, I change the plastic.

Have you gone to another vet for a second opinion? It is unusual for a young male dog to be incontinent.
