Dog Not feeling well

My dog was fine all day, all of a sudden his back became hunched and his legs and paws became very stiff and he can't walk, he cant lay down properly and in some positions while he is laying down he is very uncomfortable. He is 10yrs old, we just took him to the vet because his anal glands were swollen and needed to be physically released.

Any tips or answers will greatly be appreciated.
Any questions I will get back ASAP.

Thanks
Nick

Did you guys go back to the vet to see what is going on with your dog?

Did he perhaps have a reaction to any recent meds or flea treatments (topical or chewables)?

Blood clot?

Goodness, it sounds serious if he can't walk.

Please update us. Best wishes to you both!

We took him to the vet he has a mild herniated disk, the vet gave him a steroid shot and steroid pills to take. He still isn't able to walk with his hind legs, and he hasn't gone to the bathroom all day.

Yes, we took him to the vet first thing in the morning, he has a mild herniated disk, however he still isn't able to walk with his hind legs. The steroid pills are suppose to help the inflammation go down and are suppose to relax his muscles.

Thanks for updating us! I was worried about your dog.

I don't know anything about herniated discs, but it doesn't sound very happy for your dog. I am glad you guys were able to go right back to the vet to check it out.

Sending you and your dog healing thoughts!

Woof woof get better fast doggie! I hope he gets back to being able to walk again very soon.

Feel free to let us know how he is doing as he is healing!

If the disc is not torn all the way through, they can heal with conservative treatment, IE: steroids to reduce inflammation and muscle relaxants to help them heal, as well as pain medication. It is not a quick process, and though you do not want him completely inactive, his activity will have to be largely curtailed while he is healing.
