I have a Doberman/Ridgeback that is 11 years old. She had knee surgery about 4 years ago, that was successful. No one would guess that Sophie had had an operation.
She has been getting glucosamine with her food for about 7 or 8 years. Sophie also gets fish oil with her food as well as Proin, for an incontinance problem she has had since birth.
She has been walking very gingerly for the last few weeks, so I took her to the vet. He said she definitely has some arthritis, and prescribed Meloxicam 7.5 mg, one-half pill 2x a day.
I am taking her to see the vet on Tuesday, but today was frightening. Sophie has no interest in anything, even her blanket, which she gnaws on like a pacifier, and has since a puppy. She is hardly eating, and it is difficult for her to get up. Her breathing seems shallow and faster.
I also noticed her drooling a little more often than usual, but not constantly.
There are a couple of lumps on her lower body, but they were declared benign by the vet.
Any thoughts on what might be ailing her? This came on so quick. I am afraid that she might have cancer.
