Unhappy Dog eats a bite at a time then leaves

My baby Captain is a 10 month old Lab Mix and in the last couple of weeks he has been very particular about his food. He won't eat unless I'm standing right next to him. He hasn't been like this forever, just the past couple of weeks. I also have to point at his bowl and tell him to eat and sometimes that doesn't work. He just looks at me or gets a toy and wants to play.
I used to be able to put his food and water out, go take a shower and get ready for work while he ate. But he has been particularly stubborn about this.

Any ideas?

Welcome!

First, I would suggest going to the vet to rule out any physical issues.

Next, I would evaluate what he's eating. Maybe he doesn't like it. How long have you had it? How is it stored? Maybe it's stale.

I have a dog who never cared about food. I played with her food for years and finally just switched her over to raw because it's the only thing that she's excited to eat.

Good luck! I totally understand how frustrating it is!

Yes by all means have a Vet check him out. It could be a bad tooth or any of a number of things. If nothing physical is going on with him, try different food. Some dogs just get tired of the same fare every day.
