Dog cyst or skin disease

Hello everyone,

I'm new here and looking for answers. I have a 8 year old male pitbull terrier and he's having an issue with his skin near his belly. Does anyone know what type of skin or cyst? Before I get ripoff from the Veterinarian anyone experienced something like this?

That, I'm afraid, looks a hell of a lot like a tumor or some other serious growth. I would not hesitate about heading to the vet at your earliest convenience.

Edit: Another possibility would be an extremely hyper granulated wound, only a vet could tell you for sure.

There's really no way to know what it is without having some sort of sample tested by a pathologist, so you'll need to see a vet one way or another. Pit bulls are prone to mast cell tumors (a type of skin tumor) which can be ulcerated and angry looking like this lesion, and that would be my concern (had a dog who had one, and have known a bunch of others), so I would make the vet visit sooner rather than later.
